We have extensive experience in real estate and timber litigation and transactions. We represent buyers and sellers of timber, timberland, farms, commercial properties, and investment properties. We are often called on to assist in transactions involving minors, estates, guardianships, or trusts. Our litigation experience includes cases involving timber trespass, land use, access disputes, eminent domain, title disputes, land division, deficiency judgments, nuisance, adverse possession, foreclosure, and boundary disputes. Although we are able to resolve most real estate disputes by agreement, we have tried real estate cases to jury verdict and have handled real estate cases in the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
We also represent a large number of farmers and forest landowners in estate and business planning.
Jason worked as a procurement forester prior to attending law school. In that capacity, he bought and sold timber and timberland on a regular basis. He is a North Carolina registered forester, a member of the Society of American Foresters and a Certified Forester. He has an in depth understanding of both the practical issues and the law related to real estate and timber.
