The estate administration process is often more complicated than expected. Many times family members serving as executor, administrator or trustee do not understand their fiduciary duties or statutory obligations. Many of our clients first contact us after something has gone wrong. It it always safer to hire competent counsel from the beginning.
Before joining the firm, Andrew Whitley served as the elected Clerk of Superior Court of Wilson County. The Clerk of Court serves as the ex officio judge of probate, and has original, exclusive jurisdiction over the probate of wills, the administration of decedents’ estates, and certain trust and estate proceedings. During his 13 years as Clerk, Andrew presided over thousands of estate proceedings. We handle estate matters throughout Eastern North Carolina. We also assist clients with trust modification, will contests, and estate litigation.
